R&B Veteran David Crawford Debuts Kids Bible Compass, a New Faith‑Based Book with a Musical Companion for Young Readers
LAS VEGAS, Nevada (13 OCTOBER 2026): With his latest single, a reimagined version of the Al Green classic “Let’s Stay Together,” receiving over 20,000 streams on Spotify, veteran R&B flutist, composer, and music educator David Crawford is expanding his creative reach with Kids Bible Compass, a children’s book published by IngramSpark and accompanied by a musical companion, Singing the Books of the Bible.
Having performed, produced, orchestrated, and arranged for R&B icons Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Mary J. Blige, Bill Withers, Isaac Hayes, and Vesta, Crawford extended his ministry into writing a book to introduce children and pre-teens to the Old and New Testaments of the Bible during a time in history in which the teachings may help provide moral clarity, emotional resilience, and guidance for navigating social pressures.
“I wanted to prepare something that I believe could be beneficial to today’s youth given the challenges young people face today,” said Crawford. “My intention for Kids Bible Compass is to teach children how to develop strong moral character, how to manage life's adversities and struggles, and most importantly, to have faith and trust in God.”
Crawford acknowledges that the 66 different books of the Bible can be intimidating for young readers, which is why he crafted a visually appealing book that is vividly illustrated while breaking the content into clear, age‑appropriate lessons from Genesis to Revelation. The book utilizes engaging visuals that highlight the core message of each sacred text. Crawford’s goal for the Kids Bible Compass is to point the way for youth to discover prayer and to connect with God while establishing a moral foundation rooted in biblical truth.
Since music has been his primary method of communication, Crawford sought an outlet to combine his love of music and the Bible. He thought that setting key content from Kids Bible Compass to music would enhance the learning experience for children of all ages. That’s what led him to create Singing the Books of the Bible, a 22-minute musical companion to his book. The recording mixing narrative and songs creates an immersive storytelling experience that illuminates the Bible’s messages through music and melody, making key biblical themes more memorable for young learners.
“Singing the Books of the Bible offers a clear and compelling overview of all 66 books, tying together the epic history of God’s people, the wisdom of the prophets, and the life-changing message of Jesus Christ into one seamless narrative,” said Crawford, who was raised in Compton, California and is based in Las Vegas. “I created it for use in households, classrooms, and churches for people of all ages.”
Crawford arranged and conducted Rene & Angela’s two million-selling single, “My First Love.” His flute performance and recording credits include Stevie Wonder, Ahmad Jamal, and The Temptations along with orchestral appearances with the Afro American Chamber Music Society Orchestra, Santa Monica Symphony, and the Burbank Philharmonic. Crawford, who earned his master’s degree in music from the California Institute of the Arts, is presently working on his debut album, Something Borrowed, Something New.
